Top 3 UL2272-certified e-scooters in Singapore

Top 3 UL2272-certified e-scooters in Singapore

As of July 2020, all non-UL2272 certified e-scooters will be automatically de-registered and banned from being used on public paths. With the deadline being brought forward from the end- 2020 to July 2020, there is an increasing need for UL2272 certified e-scooters in the market.

Looking at the few UL2272 certified e-scooter models in the market, we have compiled the top 3 UL2272 certified e-scooters when it comes to mileage, convenience and value for money.

1. Segway-Ninebot MAX

The Segway-Ninebot MAX features the longest mileage from Segway-Ninebot, with a whopping maximum range of 65km per charge. With such a long maximum range, the MAX is perfect for all riders, be it for commuting to work, food delivery or recreational purposes, you will be able to use the MAX to travel far without having to worry about the battery running low.

The Ninebot MAX e-scooter can travel long distances but is also perfect for your first and last-mile commute. A one-click folding system is implemented for you to fold the Ninebot MAX with ease.

It is UL2272 certified and compliant with the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s size restrictions for PMDs being used on public paths. Moreover, it meets the standard set by LTA for PMDs on public transport, which means you can bring it onto trains and buses as well!

It is 18.9kg and can take a maximum load of 100kg.

The Ninebot MAX e-scooter is an all-rounder that can be used for various purposes and is the ultimate choice if you want to get an e-scooter that is the most value for money.

Please note that it is illegal to ride the US model (that is not LTA compliant and UL2272 certified) in Singapore.

The LTA approved UL2272 certification for the Singapore model of the Segway-Ninebot MAX is from TUV Rheinland, one of the seven certification bodies approved by LTA.

Make sure to always check the logo reflected on the e-scooter before making your purchase.

The Segway-Ninebot MAX is retailing for only $1,099 (U.P. $1,199) and comes with a 12-month warranty when you buy from Mighty Velo at 259 Lavender Street OR www.OhMyBike.com

We are the official distributor and repair centre for Segway-Ninebot Singapore. Our mechanics are all trained by Segway to fix faulty electric scooters, so rest assured that any Segway-Ninebot e-scooter bought from us will in good hands.

2. Segway-Ninebot ES2

The Segway-Ninebot ES2 is another one of the few UL2272 certified e-scooters in the market. Unlike the Ninebot MAX, the Segway ES2 is suitable for those who are looking for an e-scooter for their first and last-mile commute as it has a shorter maximum range of 25km.

It’s great for your work commute, especially those who want to ride an e-scooter to the MRT station from their homes, and from the MRT station to their workplace. The Segway ES2 can be folded and brought onto trains and buses, ensuring a smooth commute to work. It is 12.5kg, which is significantly lighter than the Segway ES2 and can take a maximum load of up to 100kg.

The Segway ES2 is also LTA compliant and UL2272 certified, which means your e-scooter will be able to be ridden on public paths past July 2020.

The ES2 e-scooter is cheaper than the Ninebot MAX and a good bargain for those who only need an e-scooter for short-distance commutes.

So if you’re looking for an e-scooter to travel short distances, you don’t have to burn a big hole in your pocket by purchasing a more expensive scooter since you don’t need the distance it offers.

The Segway ES2 is retailing for $649 (U.P. $799) and comes with a 12-month warranty when you buy from Mighty Velo, the official distributor and repair centre for Segway-Ninebot Singapore. Get your Segway ES2 at 259 Lavender Street OR www.OhMyBike.com

3. DYU seated electric scooter

The DYU seated electric scooter is a more family-friendly option for those who want to share their e-scooter with children. However, it has a maximum range of 20km, which means it cannot go far per charge.

The e-scooter weighs 14kg and can take a maximum load of up to 120kg, which is reasonable as it is meant to hold more than one rider at a time.

The good thing about the DYU is that it’s customisable as you can add on a child seat or even a front grocery basket. It also comes with 12-inch wheels for maximised comfort while riding, great for parents with children.

The DYU is retailing for $699 (U.P. $899) and comes with a 6-month warranty that covers motor, battery, throttle and controller against manufacturer defects when you buy from 40 Jln Pemimpin.

Overall, there are many factors to consider when purchasing an e-scooter, but most importantly, you have to ensure that you are getting value for money when it comes to mileage. The Ninebot MAX may be more pricey compared to the other two e-scooters, but it has a mileage of 65km, which is triple of the Segway ES2 and DYU e-scooter.

Not only is the Ninebot MAX a durable scooter that can travel long distances, but it also saves you plenty of time without having to charge it too. Consider whether you’re willing to pay a bit more for a longer mileage where you can charge your e-scooter fewer times than you would have to with an e-scooter with shorter mileage.
